It’s hard to find affordable yoga classes nowadays. The costs of classes can range from $75-$150 per class.  If you want a laid-back place to practice yoga, we have the spot for you.

A donation based studio, “Yoga to the People” creates a relaxing environment to help your mind, body, and soul reconnect within. Take a deep breath in, focusing on your breath, and exhale relief sounds in unison. Yoga lovers unite to practice their downward dog, warrior, vasisthasana (side plank pose) and utkatasma (chair Pose). Find “you” in these poses and have them fit for your body.

If you’re a busy bee with a jam-packed schedule, worry no more, this four floor cozy place is open 7 days a week to accommodate any schedule. A friendly soothing atmosphere located in the heart of St. Marks Place is full of wooden floors, $2 rental yoga mats, and optional donation offers, which helps to keep the place running. Classes are held seven days a week, Monday-Friday, so be prepared to get your sweat on.

The teachers are young, hip, and willing to help each individual. They have worked with NFL’s Seattle Seahawks and members of the Joffrey Ballet Company of Chicago. Whether you are a 90 year old grandma, an energetic child, a hormonal teen, a third grade teachers, or a noble prize winning author, this yoga is open to everyone. Put your hands up in chair pose and awake your mind, body, and soul.

“There will be no correct clothes. There will be no proper payment. This power is for everyone. All bodies rise,” says Yoga to the People.

For the career minded practitioners, they are currently seeking teachers. The training program begins Feb. 19-May 11* Next time you are in the city, hop on a subway with a friend and get your yoga on for the low cost of working up a sweat.
