By Jackie Cular
Many celebrities strive to be a triple threat—someone who excels in three different areas; rapper, entrepreneur, and actor Konvict Muzik artist Qwes Kross is a master. Receiving international recognition, buying properties around the world, and earning a role in a major motion-picture, Qwes Kross is a globe-trotting phenomenon who is about to take the US by storm.
Qwes Kross has just returned from the TMF/MTV European Music Awards in Belgium, where he was nominated for the Best New Artist Award. The rapper, who was recognized for his single, “Hold Tight,” was a collaboration with Akon and Jay-J—the winner of “The Project,” Europe’s version of “Making the Band.” Next up, Kross is going to release his single “My Favorite Model” at a single release bash and fashion show.
On the real estate front, Kross admits that he watches and hopes to emulate Donald Trump. He says of his recent development deal, “seeing a loop hole, I attacked.” Kross’s properties provide affordable luxury housing, especially for those who can’t afford to build a brand new home. Of his properties in California, New York, Miami, Atlanta, and London, Qwes Kross says, “I provide low priced housing with convenience and luxury—a nice condo with all of the amenities.” Kross admits that he is benefitting from the economic downturn while helping others find housing.
In the spring of 2010, Qwes Kross will appear in the Lion’s Gate film “Wrong Side of Town,” where the rapper wrote all of his own lines. Kross muses, “I knew the director so I had the control and could do what I want.” Kross plays a street-wise guy who is chasing ransom money along side rapper/actors Omarion and Ja Rule. The film features action master WWE star Dave Batista and Rob Van Dam. Kross is very enthusiastic when discussing the cast, “it’s a big thing, a pivotal point for wrestling and music.” He adds that “Wrong Side of Town” is the first action film to combine professional wrestlers and award-winning musicians.
Being a triple threat in this economy is not easy, yet Konvict Muzik artist Qwes Kross’s star keeps on rising. The self-professed lover of Starbucks and Baja Fresh continues to forge ahead. “I’m low key… I’m just being humble,” Kross says of his success. 2010 is sure to be Qwes Kross’s most successful year thus far.
