3 ROOMS OF LIVE MUSIC FEATURING:
DJ Logic & Steve Molitz (of Particle)
Steve Molitz (Particle, Phil Lesh & Friends, Playing For Change) & DJ Logic (Project Logic, MMW) have collaborated in various musical projects over the last decade, but this marks the first time the two have come together to headline an event as a duo.
Having worked with everyone from John Mayer to Medeski, Martin & Wood, DJ Logic is a digital chameleon capable of blending in with any musical surrounding. Add to the mix keyboardist Steve Molitz, who has performed with artists ranging from Tricky to The Allman Brothers, and you’ve got a diverse palette of sound capable of keeping dance floors bumpin with styles from Hip Hop & Electronica to Funk & Soul. VooDoo Blue was able to accomplish a lot in a 10-year frame. This group of best friends from Maryland released 6 records in 2 incarnations. Through High School, College and beyond Michael Silberman, Dan Book, Justin Posner and Clunky had a great run. In that time they graced the HFStival stage twice–playing to a crowd of 60,000 people in 2004. In 2005, the band became 3, and released “Smile N Nod” on D-Cide records, having their best selling release as their last. In August of 2007 they decided to move on the new things after having been on the road constantly for 3 years, playing almost all 50 states with many sold out shows and some incredible experiences. A stint on the Vans Warped Tour and an incredible final show at The Recher Theatre was the culmination of the group. After 3 years apart, the band still has a devout following and is coming back together to play a very special show at ChangeUp Fest.
With a successful grind and remarkable hustle Bossman’s dreams seemed within reach when in 2005, he was approached by Jermaine Dupri who signed him to Virgin Records just thirty minutes after their initial meeting…soon after, Bossman had three songs in heavy rotation and sold an additional 30,000 mix tapes, gaining national exposure with “So Fresh” and “A-Yo” on “The Wire: Season 5″ Soundtrack as well as the hit “Handclap” produced by Rocwilder on NBA Live 2007. Bossman is currently working on his latest album “Home of The Wire” which will allow him to musically express real life struggles relating to life in Baltimore City the way only a native Baltimorean can.
FUTURE ISLANDS are a post-wave dance band from North Carolina, now residing in Baltimore. Future Islands play a terse yet passionate music wrought from a stripped back palette. Gerrit Welmers’ cartwheeling synthesizer melodies tumble across the austere wilderness of William Cashion’s post punk bass pulse, driven ever forward by Erick Murillo’s ecstatic feel for rhythm.
A lot can be accomplished in the span of a short year. The Dialogue, an indie-pop-rock four-piece from Baltimore, MD, released their debut EP titled, “All I Thought Impossible,” in May 2009. Since the release they have built a resume that most bands spend an entire career to achieve. They joined All American Rejects and Shiny Toy Guns on their stop of the “I Wanna Rock” tour, which drew over 10,000 people to Towson University. The Dialogue have also showcased for industry heavyweights alongside The Matches at New York City’s famed Mercury Lounge, in addition to performing direct support to a variety of artists, from Girl Talk to All Time Low.
Soul Cannon formed in 2006 with the joining of minds attempting to dramatically alter the world’s idea of hip hop. Made for-radio and the underground alike had too long suffered from the colorless confines of a stale culture bound by genre-based identification. The group-think of an artistically numb population, defined by a complete void of originality, created a vast ignorance of the limitless possibilities for music – notes, rhythms, harmonies, sweat, focus, life – to move people in ways still undefined.
Educated Consumers is a Washington, DC Metro Area HipHop duo composed of producer T.E.C.k! and MC SeezMics. The appeal of the group comes from their blend of the golden eras of the HipHop genre: the early 90’s style of production and new millennium approach to Mceeing. While T.E.C.k! employs the art of crate digging to provide the beats, SeezMics speaks on universal truths about human existence to create the perfect hybrid. The production and lyricism compliment each other to create the perfect blend of HipHop music’s best attributes.
