Whether you consider yourself a hardcore Phillies fan or simply someone looking for a way to spend a summer night, Citizen’s Bank Park offers tons of options for the 2009 season. Kicking off July with a bang, the 2008 World Series champions play host to the Reds on the 8th and the Pirates on the 9th.  Both games include a fireworks display sponsored by Independence Blue Cross.

If ballpark food is more your thing, Hatfield sponsors dollar dog nights every so often throughout the season, with two currently on the schedule. The dollar hot dogs are a staple on the calendar of many a Philadelphia college student, so either snag your tickets for September 28th versus the Astros now, or hit up the food stands on July 23rd as the Phils battle the Padres before school is back in session. Other giveaways for the fifteen-and-over set this season include a Brad Lidge bobble head on August 19th and a Retro-style winter hat on the 28th.

With single game tickets starting at $18.00, seeing the Phils won’t break the bank. In addition, the park hosts numerous theme nights in celebration of different cultures, during which one can save an additional four dollars on tickets in the lower price ranges. Entering “Oktoberfest” upon checkout for October 3rd’s “German Heritage Celebration” showdown with the Marlins saves four dollars off of tickets in the sixteen to twenty-nine dollar range. Similar discounts apply for July’s Italian Heritage Celebration Night, August’s Jewish Heritage Celebration Night, and September’s Latino Family Celebration Night. Discount codes and checkout instructions can be found under “Theme Nights” on the Phillies web page.

If you have a flexible schedule or like to make last minute plans, make sure to sign up for the Phils Email Club at Phillies.com. Your inbox will be flooded with Buy One Get One Free ticket offers and other enticing deals. If booking ahead and indoor luxuries are more your bag, Bala Theater hosts “Phillies at the Movies” on June 30th. Fans can stay in the great indoors for twelve dollars a seat. There will also be an an opportunity to win a pair of seats to a future game.

A day for true Phils fans to be at the stadium is August 7th as the Phillies head off against the Florida Marlins and legendary emcee Harry Kalas is inducted into the Phillies Wall of Fame. The induction ceremony, attended by a number of Wall of Famers such as Mike Schmidt, kicks off Alumni Weekend at Citizen’s Bank Park. The Garry Maddox RibFest charity event will take place Saturday afternoon before the game, while August 9th’s afternoon game will begin with an alumni batting challenge,

No matter if you attend the game for the sport, the atmosphere, the beer, or a combination of everything, a day or night at the ballpark is a summer tradition. Tailgating, anyone?
